a fad lately has been making use of point blank shot and zojun's shot. it allows for heavy dps without brutal or conjure, allows the use of nat stride, and can still be buffed up with brutal from an outside source. it does +100 on crits, sunders, etc. on a recurve bow vs. 60 al.
i'm a fan, but its not all that good because of the half range clause. but at the same time, you also still have room for savage or distracting.

Bows are for interrupts and condition spread, not DPS.

That's pretty much a glass arrow spike in TA
forked arrow + glass arrows + brutal weapon
But bows aren't for DPS, mainly interupt and condition spread. Or sometimes ranger spike, but if you want DPS on a ranger you may want to use spear + pet.

If you have energy issues, then just run Prep Shot Conjure Kindle with Interrupts.
But like stated before, Rangers are for disruption not DPS.

[skill]rampage as one[/skill][skill]hammer bash[/skill][skill]crushing blow[/skill][skill]bestial mauling[/skill]
Also, [skill]burning arrow[/skill] is about as close to decent bow DPS as Rangers really get.

That's not really DPS, it's more of a spike. To put out consistent DPS you need an IAS. You could try [wiki]Weapon of Aggression[/wiki] with [skill=text]Prepared Shot[/skill] and see where you go with that. I have a PvE-version of this that does around 70 DPS alone, maybe over 100 if you get some other ranged attackers in your party. It has no utility though so it wouldn't be of much use in PvP, damage is too low without the PvE skills.
[skill]Read the Wind[/skill][skill]Prepared Shot[/skill][wiki]Weapon of Aggression[/wiki][skill]Needling Shot[/skill][wiki]Triple Shot[/wiki][skill]Dual Shot[/skill][skill]Forked Arrow[/skill][wiki]Ebon Battle Standard of Honor[/wiki]
[skill]Read the Wind[/skill][skill]Vow of Strength[/skill][skill]Heket's Rampage[/skill] produces some nice numbers at the sake of being unstable with all the stuff that needs upkeep. Then you can take [skill]Throw Dirt[/skill] or [skill]Harrier's Grasp[/skill] or some other utility to complement your damage. You won't be able to interrupt with VoS, though...
Kindle/Conjure works somewhat decently in unorganized areas.
[skill]Conjure Flame[/skill][skill]Kindle Arrows[/skill][skill]Prepared Shot[/skill][skill]Needling Shot[/skill][skill]Concussion Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Natural Stride[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
Drop Concussion for [skill=text]Dual Shot[/skill] and DIstracting for [skill=text]Savage Shot[/skill] if you want more spiking.

If you want a lot of DPS, role a trap ranger.

[skill]burning arrow[/skill][skill]distracting shot[/skill][skill]savage shot[/skill][skill]needling shot[/skill][skill]apply poison[/skill][skill]natural stride[/skill][skill]troll unguent[/skill] res
you can swap needling for [skill]mending touch[/skill] but that's better for pvp.
good dps and interrupting..degen wins!

If you are looking for pure damage, a ranger's bow can rarely bring pain like their beast can with [wiki]Enraged Lunge[/wiki].
[skill]Enraged Lunge[/skill][skill]Predator's Pounce[/skill][skill]Poisonous Bite[/skill][skill]Read the Wind[/skill][skill]Call of Haste[/skill][skill]Call of Protection[/skill][skill]Comfort Animal[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill]
You can leave the bow home (and Rtw) and bring more beastpower, or you can swap Poisonous or P-Pounce for an interrupt. Whatever you change, EL likes 3 other recharging BM skills

I know, I know, the point is they can do both if used properly. So far I think the best option would be
[card]Conjure Flame[/card][card]Punishing Shot[/card][card]Savage Shot[/card] [card]Distracting Shot[/card][card]Pin Down[/card]
and [card]Kindle Arrows[/card] or [card]Apply Poison[/card]
+ [card]Charm Animal[/card]
This is when you have a monk healing you of course, if not then add evading and self healing.
This might be kinda old-school build but it still works

No, it does interrupt and condition spread great and its DPS is sub par.
Roll a Warrior if you want to DPS or do Burning Arrow.

And your purpose is to spread the BS around.
Aside from the fact that your statement is arguably incorrrect, the OP was asking about help with a DPS build. It just wastes forum space and people's time to go off-topic. It's quite possible that he has heard of that "urban myth" and may even agree with it.

I'ts only BS if it's not true.
Bows are bad at DPS. They can be used for churning it out, but... then you'd be stuck playing a gimped character that frankly sucks compared to other alternatives.

The fact is, bows are bad at DPS. It's possible to design your whole skill bar to be full of buffs and additional damage, but the amount of effort it takes to make you even moderately damaging is a waste of time compared to the contribution you can make to the team with a little bit of interrupting skill. Sorry, but no matter how cool you might find it to have to try and find the energy and time to keep up a conjure and a prep while still pumping out attack skills, you're never going to be the type of DPS machine that a Warrior with an Axe and adrenaline attack skills is.
Your best bet with a bow is, as I stated, Burning Arrow.
